Shadows of the Galaxy - The second set of Star Wars: Unlimited
The new set of Star Wars: Unlimited Shadows of the Galaxy will be released soon (planned in July). But what is this set all about? What mechanics are in this set? Which of my favourite characters will I be able to play? And where can I pre-order it? I will answer these and other questions in this article.
Theme
In Shadows of the Galaxy, players are immersed in the Outer Rim, where the conflict between the Rebels and the Empire is in the background and cunning is required. Criminals smuggle their goods beyond the reach of the authorities, bounty hunters hunt down wanted criminals and collect their bounty and Mandalorians go their own way.
Smuggling
The first new mechanic, Smuggling, lets you bring cards you have played as resources into play. This gives you more flexibility to play the perfect cards every turn. It also generates value as you can play the cards both as a resource (which replaces itself as soon as you smuggle) and as a card. Can you manage to smuggle your goods in such a way that you get the upper hand over your opponent?
Bounty
Cards with a bounty give the opponent a reward if they are defeated or captured. In return, they have above-average strength, which offsets this disadvantage. Are you able to collect the opponent's bounties or overwhelm them with underworld units?
Take prisoners
In the Outer Rim, which is teeming with criminals, bounty hunters ensure peace and order. To win their bounty, they capture units and render them powerless. How many enemy units can you capture?
These will be the two starter decks you can play to recreate the conflict between Moff Gideon and the Mandalorian in the series of the same name. These starter decks are the best way to relearn the game with the motto "learning by doing".
