The Mini-Moon 2024 PT5
A Second Moon for Earth: A Cosmic Visitor and the Story of TwoMoons
A small asteroid named 2024 PT5 will accompany Earth as a temporary mini-moon between September 29 and November 25, 2024. It will orbit the Earth on a horseshoe-shaped path about 568,500 kilometers away but is too small (10 meters in diameter) to be visible to the naked eye. Researchers suspect that 2024 PT5 is an Arjuna asteroid, which has an Earth-like orbit. After this episode, the asteroid will return to space.
Just as this mini-moon is captured by Earth's gravity, in our aptly named bar TwoMoons in Zurich, we have gathered communities around various Trading Card Games (TCG) over the past few months, pulling them into our orbit. We hope they won’t leave us, just like this new little Earth companion.
The Journey Through Deep Space
Five years ago, in response to the closure of a local game store, we founded the KSVZ (Kartenspielverein Zürich) and built a strong Magic: The Gathering community. Today, with our own TwoMoons store, we are Zurich’s leading TCG and board game bar. Our Magic Weekly Events and the popular Friday Night Magic drafts attract up to 80 players each week. But Magic is just the beginning: with events for Star Wars Unlimited, Lorcana, Flesh and Blood, Pokémon, Altered, and more, new communities are constantly growing at TwoMoons.

The visit of this mini-moon to Earth is something very special. We work hard to make sure every visit to TwoMoons is just as special for you. Whether it’s at one of our tournaments, at our bar, or just browsing our 3D-printed accessories – we’re here to enrich and expand the Zurich TCG and board game scene.
Facts About the Second Moon
- Starting from September 29, 2024, the asteroid will enter Earth’s orbit and stay until November 25
- Size – Nearly 10 meters in diameter
- The asteroid was discovered by NASA on August 7
- Due to its size, it is barely visible from Earth
- 2024 PT5 came from the Arjuna asteroid belt and will return there after November 25
- The next visit of 2024 PT5 will be in 2055
